History of Webjet

Webjet was founded in February of 2005 by Rogério Ottoni. Operations began that same year in July with a flight from Rio de Janeiro to Porto Alegre. In the first years of operations, Webjet could not compete with other airlines in the Brazilian market like TAM and Gol Linhas Aéreas and consequently stopped scheduled flights. It proceeded to operate only charter services to domestic destinations. In 2006 the airline was sold to other tourism companies. Once this happened scheduled flights began again. The airline expanded with new aircraft and in 2007 it was sold once again to its original owners. It operated a schedule of regular flights during the weekdays and charter flights on weekends during this time.

In 2009 a new logo and new destinations were added to Webjet, hoping to make an impact on Brazilian travellers. Presently there are no plans to increase destinations in the network but to increase frequency of its present destinations. The airline is expanding its fleet to accommodate higher passenger numbers and more frequent departures.

  • Entertainment: Webjet has an in-flight magazine called Conecte-Se. It is available in Portuguese only.

• Baggage Allowances

  • Cabin: 1 piece of hand luggage is permitted. It must not exceed 5 kg in weight and must fit within the linear dimension of 115 cm.
  • Checked: Each passenger can check 23 kg. Children between 2 and 12 can check 12 kg of luggage.
  • Excess: There is a fee at check-in for luggage that exceeds the weight limitations.
